Over the weekend, Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith and his family gave a very special Mother’s Day gift to every mother in the neonatal intensive care unit at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital where their daughter Dakota is being cared for.

Via Ann Domeck of Fox 8 News in Cleveland:

“My husband came up with the brilliant idea of getting all of the mothers in the NICU flowers today so we did just that,” Jewel wrote in her blog. “When the flowers arrived, I pushed the cart and (my eldest daughter) Demi placed an arrangement of flowers in every room…it was super special and we both enjoyed it.”

As most basketball fans know by now, Dakota was born almost five months prematurely in February, weighing in at just one pound. Since then, little Dakota has gained a good amount of weight. Earlier this month, she tipped the scales at six pounds, which is obviously a great sign.

Jewel tells Fox 8 that she dressed Dakota in a special onesie and tutu for Mother’s Day. However, when her husband arrived at the hospital after practice, little Dakota was ready for a nap. So, with Dakota on his chest, the father-daughter duo shared a siesta.

As always, we should continue to keep Dakota and the Smith family in our thoughts and prayers going forward.
