J.R. Smith has been on a tear this season, doing exactly what the Cavs had hoped he would. Putting up 12.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.1 steals, and 2.6 three-pointers made per game. He’s been a perfect compliment to LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love.

According to Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com, Smith plans to leave his current agency to join LeBron James and Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.

“Smith is in the process of parting ways with Creative Artists Agency and plans to sign with Rich Paul of Cleveland-based Klutch Sports, league sources informed cleveland.com.

A formalized pact is expected in the near future. Paul represents Smith’s teammates LeBron James and Tristan Thompson as well.”

Smith is one of a few players to recently sign with the agency. Wizards guard John Wall signed with Klutch Sports in January and LSU standout and projected top-5 pick Ben Simmons also signed with the agency earlier this week.

J.R.’s relationship with LeBron has grown tremendously over the past year, and he’s proved to be the perfect sharpshooter/defender for a guy like James, who commands the attention of defenses.
