By now, most basketball fans know that Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith and his wife, Jewel, have been dealing with the premature birth of their daughter, Dakota.
After today’s practice session, Smith shared an update on Dakota’s condition with Fox Sports Ohio’s Allie Clifton. The smooth-shooting guard thanked his wife initially and told Clifton that his daughter, 108 days into her stay at a Cleveland-area children’s hospital, is doing great.
.@TheRealJRSmith … (looks down at a cell phone in front of him) – "she was just as big as this phone when she was born" ..now: "4.7 lbs."

Smith suffered a left hamstring injury in the first half of Monday’s 117-111 Game 2 win over the Indiana Pacers, but his MRI results came back negative this morning. His availability for Game 3 is still unclear.
While this is great news for little Dakota and the Smith family, we should continue to keep them in our thoughts and prayers moving forward.
