Iman Shumpert suffered a sprained left ankle, left arena on crutches

Iman Shumpert

Monday night was a great spectacle for all Cleveland Cavaliers fans. It was so much fun to watch the 140-135 overtime victory over the Washington Wizards, many may have forgotten Iman Shumpert‘s early exit from the game.

Shumpert suffered a left ankle sprain after landing on Kevin Love‘s ankle early in the 3rd quarter, and did not return. According to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, an X-ray on Shumpert’s ankle was negative, but he left the Verizon Center with his left foot in a protective boot, with the help of crutches.

The Cavaliers will travel to Indianapolis for Wednesdays game against the Pacers, and with a cloud over Shump’s availability it’ll keep things interesting. If Shumpert faces any time on the sidelines, it would leave the Cavaliers with just 11 healthy players.

This could force David Griffin into signing his first candidate to a 10-day contract to fill some minutes off the bench. Kyle Korver is likely to replace Shumpert in the starting lineup, which leaves the bench with a major scoring hole.

Stay tuned for further updates.
