Since the Cleveland Cavaliers made the decision on Monday to part ways with general manager David Griffin, it has immediately shifted gears toward possible replacements.

In the first few days, former NBA star Chauncey Billups has emerged as a frontrunner for the position with the Cavaliers. With rumors swirling around, it appears that Ice Cube may have let cat out of the bag revealing that Billups has taken the job, according to TMZ.com.

“It was the Killer 3’s (led by Chauncey and Stephen Jackson) for a minute but since Chauncey took that job, it might change.”

Billups had been expected to participate in Ice Cube’s Big 3 League this summer alongside fellow former NBA players Stephen Jackson, Larry Hughes, Brian Cook, Reggie Evans, Eddie Robinson, and player-coach Charles Oakley.

There was a growing expectation that Billups would land the job after meeting with Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert a second time this week on Wednesday. The former NBA Finals MVP has developed a strong relationship with both Gilbert and head coach Tyronn Lue over the years.

It will be interesting to see what will be in store next for the Cavaliers with Billups in place as the general manager. This could be just the beginning to some major decisions over this offseason that will affect the future of the franchise.
