The Cleveland Cavs have agreed to terms on a one-year deal for Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen’s backup center, Thomas Bryant. While the Cavs are working on James Harden’s new deal, Cleveland cemented Bryant’s near future for the 2026-27 season.

Thomas is expected to sign a one-year contract, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

“Free agent center Thomas Bryant intends to sign a one-year deal to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, sources tell ESPN,” Charania reported.

Thomas Bryant averaged 6.2 points in 12.2 minutes for the Cavs last season. He’ll be entering his ninth NBA season, second with the Cavs.

After agreeing to a new deal with Thomas Bryant, Cavs’ Dean Wade is also eligible for an extension. Solidifying depth behind Cavs’ Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen was important. However, there is another rotation player — Dean Wade — who’s due for a new deal.

If the Cavs are unable to come to terms on a new contract, the 76ers are expected to target Wade in free agency, according to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel.

“Dean Wade, I fully expect him to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers this offseason,” Siegel said on the Clutch Scoops show. “He has multiple suitors lining up already, could get close to the full midlevel exception somewhere in that 10 to 15 million dollar per year range. He’s gonna have a wealth of suitors. I’d keep an eye on the Philadelphia 76ers.”

After reaching the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since the LeBron James years, the Cavs are looking to make a push to the NBA Finals, which could prompt the front office to make subtle changes to their roster. Given of the kinds of trades that have already happened across the league, fans wonder if the Cavs will make a significant splash during the offseason.
