In a 121-111 win, Evan Mobley and the Cleveland Cavs spoiled Washington Wizards top prospect AJ Dybantsa’s NBA debut. After the Cavs’ overtime thriller against the Minnesota Timberwolves, they survived a 47-point performance from All-Star Anthony Edwards and erased a 13-point deficit to grab their third straight win. Mobley hit three consecutive triples that sparked Cleveland’s comeback.
The All-Star center finished 5-for-6 from deep, scoring a game-high 24 points for the Cavs. After the win, Mobley discussed his 3-point touch, which has reached a sizzling 66.7% clip on the season, per Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor.
“I feel like it’s sustainable,” Mobley said. “Just confidence. The first few went in, so just kept shooting ‘em. Been working on them for years now. I feel confident in it, and I’m gonna keep shooting them.”
Cavs All-Star Evan Mobley is off to an impressive start, averaging 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in his first four games. He’s also 14-of-24 from beyond the 3-point arc in his previous two outings and finished with 12 rebounds in Wednesday’s win against the Wizards.
Peyton Watson finished with 22 points and six rebounds. Donovan Mitchell tallied 19 points, seven assists, five rebounds, and two steals, and James Harden added 16 points, six assists, and one steal. The Cavs are tied for tenth-best in 3-point shooting percentage (36.7%) while averaging 13.8 made threes per game.
Mobley’s 66.7% 3-point shooting is tied for third-highest so far, though that’s, of course, a small sample size of four games. However, he’s confident he can remain one of the NBA’s most efficient 3-point shooters throughout the regular season.
Mobley and the Cavs will look to improve to 4-1 on the road when they face the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday.
