After emerging as a frontrunner for the vacant post, it has now been reported that no less than Cavs owner Dan Gilbert has already scheduled an in-person meeting with Chauncey Billups.
During his playing years, the 6-foot-3 point guard has made a name for himself as a clutch performer, earning him the nickname “Mr. Big Shot.” He won a title with the Detroit Pistons back in 2004 and is also a former Finals MVP. His knowledge of the game will definitely benefit the Cavaliers, especially now that they have a lot of big decisions to make this summer.
Should Gilbert see Billups as a good fit with the Wine and Gold, it won’t be surprising if he’ll make him an offer and try to bring him to the organization soon. It may be his first front office position, but with the experience he has, he could turn out to be the piece they’re looking for who can help steer the ship to the right direction once again.
