Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James put on a clinic Saturday, as he scored 34 points and dished out 12 dimes to lead the Cavs, who extended their win streak to 11 games after beating the visiting Memphis Grizzlies, 116-111.
Of those 12 assists he recorded, none was more impressive than the one he made to J.R. Smith during one particular offensive set in the third quarter. With his back facing the basket atop the 3-point line, James made a superb bounce pass to a cutting Smith, who finished the play with a dunk.
That LeBron James was able to recognize and precisely anticipate J.R. Smith’s route even with his back to the basket was a marvel of its own, but to actually pull off a sleek pass was on another level of basketball brilliance.
The Cavs star has been around the NBA for over 14 years, and we’ve seen plenty of LeBron James’ plays crazier than that, but that doesn’t make his dime to Smith any less impressive.
With Derrick Rose away from the team and Isaiah Thomas still sidelined, James will have to continue setting the table for his teammates on the floor.
James is averaging 28.0 points, 8.5 assists, and 8.1 rebounds per game this season.
