So who would return to action first from injury? Derrick Rose or Isaiah Thomas? If you have a bet on Rose getting back first, then this video of the former NBA MVP doing drills just before the Cleveland Cavaliers played the Chicago Bulls at Quicken Loans Arena on Thursday is very encouraging.

Rose hasn’t played since Nov.7 due to an ankle injury. Including the game against the Bulls, Rose has missed 22 straight contests and 26 overall this season. In the seven games he’s suited up for the Cavs so far this year, Rose has managed to average 14.3 points on 47.0 field goal shooting percentage, 1.7 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game.

Apart from his injury, Derrick Rose also spent time away from the team earlier this season after a self-imposed sabbatical, as he gave his basketball career a long and hard look.

By being seen on the floor and resuming basketball activities, however, it’s clear that Rose is very much focused on helping the Cavaliers again. The Cavs have been slim at the point guard position with Rose and Thomas out with injuries, leaving LeBron James temporarily assuming quarterbacking duties for the defending Eastern Conference champions along with reserve point guard Jose Calderon.

There’s no definite date for Derrick Rose’s return, but the soonest he could come back is on Monday when the Cavs take on the Golden State Warriors in a rematch of last season’s Finals.
