Grizzlies have had no dialogue with Cavs about Marc Gasol trade
As Thursday’s trade deadline fast approaches, more and more players are being linked to the Cleveland Cavaliers as possible additions they can make to their roster. However, there’s one that has already been rumored to be on the team’s radar, but apparently, their front office has not had discussions about a deal for Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol.
That seems to be the case even if the Spanish international appears to be a good player to receive in exchange for the Brooklyn Nets’ protected first-round pick, according to Zach Lowe of ESPN. It has also been reported that the Grizzlies may opt to keep their core intact despite appearing to be headed for the lottery after this season.
“Marc Gasol makes a ton of sense as a Nets pick target, but the Grizzlies appear happy to stand pat; the two teams have had no dialogue about any Gasol-centric deal, per league sources.”
It’s no secret that the Cavs are looking to bolster their frontcourt especially with the injury of Kevin Love. Gasol is a veteran who has been named an All-Star thrice in his career, and is also a crafty scorer who can shoot from the perimeter and also operate near the basket.
With only three days to go before the trade deadline, the Wine and Gold are expected to be very active in finding key pieces to add that will be able to contribute to their cause. For now, it appears that a move for Gasol has not progressed yet, but things could still change in an instant, and the possibility of him landing in Northeast Ohio still can’t be counted out.
