Cleveland Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas has not been the kind that holds back his thoughts, especially on social media. He has been outspoken about different topics, whether it’s about basketball, his personal life, or anything that captures his attention.

The All-Star point guard recently made his thoughts known about wanting his hometown to once again have an NBA team. He took to his Twitter account to let his followers know that he would like to see the Seattle SuperSonics back, and represent the great city where he’s from.

It can be recalled that the franchise was part of the league from 1967-2008 before it relocated to Oklahoma City nine years ago. The Sonics have a rich history, winning the NBA championship in 1979 as well as produced some all-time greats like Gus Williams, Nate McMillan, Lenny Wilkens and Jack Sikma, whose jerseys have all been retired. Gary Payton, David Thompson and Sarunas Marciulionis all starred for the team as well, and were all inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame.

While there have been some rumors about the Sonics possibly making a return to Seattle, Thomas is adding more fuel to the fire, by hyping up the idea even more to his fellow Washington natives. It may take a lot of talks for it to become a reality, but knowing that a local hero is lobbying for it happen definitely gives the Seattle faithful more reason to believe that they could have a professional basketball team again.
