Tristan Thompson made sure to put the Eastern Conference on notice that the road still goes through Cleveland. The Cavs are the four-time Eastern Conference champs and are still considering themselves the top dog in the conference. Has anyone told him yet?

“We’re still 4-time Eastern Conference champions, so until you take us down from that, teams ain’t got much to say. Boston, Philly, they ain’t got much to say. Boston had homecourt Game 7 and lost. Philly, you guys almost got swept. Toronto – we already know that story. So, until someone takes us down, there’s not much they can say.”

Someone really needs to break the news to Thompson. Does he know that LeBron James is playing for the Los Angeles Lakers now? Because if the Cavs legitimately think they are the top dogs in the East, then I have a bridge to sell them.

All jokes aside, this is a good attitude for the Cavs to come into camp with. Everyone wrote them off as soon as the news broke that James was heading to LA. They may not be the favorite to return to the NBA Finals, but they have a legitimate chance to contend for a playoff spot.

They have a number of role players who know how to win. Of course, they won’t have LeBron leading the charge, but people forget how good Kevin Love can be when he’s on his game. They may not be the favorite in the East, but they have the right attitude to surprise people this season.
