The Cleveland Cavaliers are for real. We’re well past the midway point of the season and the squad is still within arms length of the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Rajon Rondo wants everyone to pay attention.
In sharing a conversation with Cavs assistant coach J.J. Outlaw, Rondo was vocal on what the young Cavs roster around him can achieve.
Via Cavs sideline reporter Serena Winter:
“This is a really good team and don’t take this type of team for granted,” said Rajon Rondo. “This type of personnel, the DNA that we have, the character in this locker room w/ the coaching staff, we got a chance to do something special.”
Given the fact that Rondo has won two championships and made three trips to the NBA Finals, the man knows a team with NBA title aspirations when he sees one.
“I’m sure when the season started, none of these guys … had a championship mentality or mindset,” the Cavs guard continued. “But now it’s time to flip the switch & understand that we need some respect & we’ll have to go get it in the playoffs, but nevertheless we can compete with anyone.”
The Cleveland Cavaliers have one of the brightest futures in the NBA given the youth of their roster. But veterans like Rajon Rondo and Kevin Love will be the first to tell you these young Cavs aren’t planning to wait their turn.
