When the Cleveland Cavaliers signed Max Strus to a four-year, $64 million deal in free agency, they were adding one of the most well-versed players in the art of shooting on the move. Strus flourished in his role with the Miami Heat as someone who comes off screens, pindowns, and curls, helping stretch the defense for the likes of Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro. Now with the Cavs, Strus is expected to do more of the same, this time with Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland as the benefactors of his sharpshooting gravity.
However, it seems like the Cavs got more than they bargained for in Strus — in a good way. The 27-year old wing may be adding a new weapon to his arsenal, with Jarrett Allen learning about this firsthand.
During one of the offseason runs for Taylor Sports Group involving a few of the Cavs’ mainstays such as Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, and Evan Mobley, Max Strus introduced himself to Jarrett Allen with a mean poster jam that’s sure to excite fans of the team.
Per Taylor Sports Group Instagram, via ClutchPoints Twitter:
Seeing Max Strus diversify his portfolio will be a welcome sight for Cavs fans. After all, they would want the 27-year old wing to contribute in other facets of the game other than sharpshooting especially given the contract he received from the Cavs this past offseason. Strus, in addition to improving the team’s spacing, will have to attack closeouts with aplomb, and based off the training footage above, it seems like he’s more than up to the task of doing so.
