After two years, Matthew Dellavedova will once again be in a Cleveland Cavaliers uniform. However, he will not be able to get his former number back.
Delly used to wear jersey No. 8 in his first stint with Cleveland. Unfortunately for him, that number is now worn by guard Jordan Clarkson:
The Aussie point guard took to social media to address the Cavs fans on the trade, and at the same time, announce the number he’ll be wearing upon his return. Good thing for him, he still has some of his old jerseys with him. It seems like he didn’t take long to think of a new number as he hilariously just added a “1” to his old threads, and indicated that he is going to sport the No. 18:

Delly looks pumped to be back in Cleveland after getting used sparingly with the Milwaukee Bucks over the past couple of seasons. The Bucks acquired the 6-foot-4 guard in a four-year $38 million sign-and-trade deal back in 2016, and he was initially their starting point guard in his first year with the team. But as time went on, his role diminished slowly, until he completely fell out of the rotation this season.
Dellavedova has only appeared in half of Milwaukee’s games so far this season, averaging just 8.1 minutes per game. Thus, it was clear that he was no longer in their plans.
The trade back to Cleveland looks to be a fresh restart for the Aussie point guard. Cavs fans fell in love with his hustle and tenacity on defense. He will look to bring that look back in a wine and gold uniform again, but this time with the No. 18.
