The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed G League standout Marcus Thornton to a 10-day contract, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of EPN.

Thornton is not to be confused with the other Marcus Thornton, a 30-year veteran who is playing in China currently. This Marcus Thornton has been playing for the Canton Charge this season averaging 18.8 points and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 40.4 percent on three on over eight attempts per game.

It looked initially like Kendrick Perkins might end up being the player to take the final roster spot for the Cavs and Perkins even tweeted that it was happening. But apparently that is not the case as Cleveland decided to go in another direction.

The Cavs made some major moves at the trade deadline trading away six players and acquiring the likes of Rodney Hood, George Hill, Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. They’ve only played a few games so far with their new faces and are still figuring out the ideal rotation.

It will be interesting to see if Thornton is given a chance on the new-look Cavs and if he lasts past the 10 days.
