LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers just got pulverized by the Golden State Warriors on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

You may think that James is already losing his confidence and forgetting his aspirations to be an NBA champion once again. But you can’t be The King with such a mindset.

Jason Lloyd of The Athletic Cleveland asked James if the Cavaliers had an identity. James responded in a way that you expect a winner like him to respond. He said:

“Our identity is to win a championship.”

It’s admiring that James can still say such a thing after losing to the Warriors 118-108 on the Cavaliers’ court. Some people even believe that the Warriors-Cavaliers rivalry is over because in a real rivalry, the parties should win over the other on a consistent basis.

But with the loss to the Warriors, the Cavaliers have just been swept in their regular season meeting with the defending champions.

James is able to respond to Lloyd like that after everything that has happened proves that you have to have the mental fortitude and belief in order to win. James is still highly regarded as the best player on the planet, and it’s safe to say that his confidence has contributed to that as well.

Confidence is good, but James needs to get some results with the Cavaliers. The team is not a lock to the Finals.

The Boston Celtics are dominating despite not having Gordon Hayward. The Toronto Raptors are playing with a mission to silence their doubters.

Let’s just hope that James’ confidence will translate better on the court.
