In honor of Black History Month, the fine designers at Nike have created a series of uniquely designed basketball shoes including versions of the LeBron James 15, Kevin Durant 10, and Kyrie Irving 4. The Cleveland Cavaliers superstar, of course, leads this pack by virtue of being a lifetime endorser for the company.
Nike released the new “BHM” line of kicks on Monday morning at 10 p.m. EST, according to a report from Troy L. Smith of Cleveland.com. All of them are great, and they all feature the Pan-African flag’s colors.
Nike LeBron 15 “BHM”
If you look closely, you’ll notice a date etched near the back of James’ new shoe. The date is July 13, 2016, when James called on his fellow athletes at the ESPY Awards to take action against racism, social injustice, and gun violence.
James’ new shoe will set consumers back roughly $185.
Nike KD 10 “BHM”
Durant’s new shoe features a date as well (May 6th, 2014). It’s known as “Kevin Durant Day” — a date that Oklahoma City mayor Mary Fallin declared as such, being a gesture of gratitude for his contributions to the city and surrounding community.
Retail for KD’s new shoe is said to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $150.
Nike Kyrie 4 “BHM”
Irving’s new Kyrie 4 “BHM,” which are currently selling for $120, prominently features the word “Equality” throughout its upper.
Nike has been a long-standing supporter of Black History Month. It’s nice to see them continuing in that tradition.
James and Durant will duke it out later tonight at Quicken Loans Arena as the Cavs welcome the Golden State Warriors to their turf.
