In November, news came down the wire stating that SpringHill Entertainment — LeBron James’ production company — and film-maker Morgan Spurlock (“Super Size Me”) had plans of filming a documentary series on the construction of an I Promise school in Akron, Ohio. Those plans have now changed, as Spurlock has admitted to sexual misconduct.
“In light of director Morgan Spurlock’s admission to a history of sexual misconduct, SpringHill Entertainment — LeBron James’ production company — has cut ties with Spurlock on the release of a planned docu-series focusing on the opening of James’ I Promise School in Akron, OH in the fall of 2018. “SpringHill Entertainment will be canceling its production agreement with Morgan Spurlock and Warrior Poets.”
SpringHill Entertainment sent out an official statement on Thursday to reassure the Akron community that construction of the school is still a go.

“SpringHill Entertainment will be canceling its production agreement with Morgan Spurlock and Warrior Poets,” the company said in a release. “We will continue moving forward to tell the important story of the I Promise School.”
Spurlock, now 47 years of age, actually admitted to sexual misconduct in a post made on Twitter.
“I’ve come to understand after months of these revelations, that I am not some innocent bystander, I am also a part of the problem,” Spurlock wrote in his confession on Twitter.

The I Promise school, which will focus on at-risk students in Akron, is scheduled to open next fall. Production of the documentary was supposed to start soon. However, with Spurlock and SpringHill parting ways, there could be a few delays.
