LeBron James was surprisingly “happy as hell” that his longtime friend Dwyane Wade was traded to the Miami Heat only an hour prior to the trade deadline. Wade was traded for a protected second-round pick, which was later sent to the Sacramento Kings as further compensation for the three-team trade that involved the acquisition of Rodney Hood and George Hill.

“(Wade) said there was a trade that happened with our team and that he possibly could be headed out as well,” James told reporters.

Asked if it was a tough moment to see him go, James quickly brushed that off.

“Man, D-Wade? Pfft… I see him all the time,” he said. “I’m happy as hell for D-Wade, he gets to go back home and that’s how it should be. I always felt that’s where his mind and his heart was.”

“I think it’s gonna be great for him, I look forward to seeing footage of him being announced back in Miami. But obviously when your brother and you’re around him everyday and he has to go back… but at the end of the day it wasn’t tough.”

James and Wade have shared 15 seasons in the league together and played alongside each other for nearly five of them. Despite being in different teams, the two always make time to see each other and spend time with each other’s families throughout the offseason and catch up when they play each other.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will see the Heat one last time on Mar. 27, as they wrap up a three-game road trip with only nine games left to their season at that point.
