Earlier this month (August). the Cleveland Cavaliers officially unveiled their new uniforms for the upcoming season. As most hoops fans know, Nike has taken over as the NBA’s sole jersey provider. New sponsorship decals will come along with the kits, which several teams have already debuted. In a joint press conference held in May, the Cavs announced that they would be teaming with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Now, thanks to an Instagram photo released by LeBron James himself, Cavs fans can see their team’s new threads in full effect.

The Cavs’ deal with Goodyear is said to be one of the more lucrative sponsorships in the NBA, tipping the value scale at an estimated $10 million per year. According to an official report from NBA.com, rather than traditional “home whites” and “away” jerseys, each organization will have four primary color schemes to choose from on a game-by-game basis.

“The ‘Association Edition’ will be the team’s traditional white uniform, while what was formerly the road uniform will now be designated as the ‘Icon Edition.’ The two remaining editions will be revealed later this fall.

“Along with those four uniform editions, eight teams will have a ‘Classic Edition’ available this fall, a nod to these team’s most iconic looks, which they can also choose to occasionally wear.”

Nike’s new uniforms are made of a combination of Alpha Yarns and recycled polyester materials. And according to their official website, each kit represents approximately 20 recycled PET bottles. Now that is something everyone can truly be happy about.
