LeBron James just proved why the NBA needs to televise the All-Star team draft.

James was named one of the team captains for the All-Star game, as he received the most votes in the Eastern Conference. The other team captain in Stephen Curry.

Part of the fun of the team captains is to see who they will pick. Both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors have multiple players that will play in the All-Star Game.

There’s a sense of wonder as to whether or not Curry and James will pick their teammates, or if they’ll get creative and pick players on other teams, or even outside their own conference.

There may have already been an answer to one of those mysteries. Kevin Love said James has not issued him that he will pick the former Minnesota Timberwolves star to his own team, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

As everyone has said before: Why can’t the NBA just televise this thing? There have been multiple players commenting publicly about who they’d like to play with in the game. Even Klay Thompson and Draymond Green recently joked with the media that they would request a trade from the Warriors if Curry did not pick them for this team.

The draft could be the most fun part of any All-Star weekend ever, and the NBA is just ignoring the obvious drama and storylines, and that could make people less likely to care about the game at all.
