With the free agency of LeBron James looming ever closer, many Cleveland Cavaliers and NBA fans are trying to find any way to figure out where he is going.

It happened during The Decision, it happened when he was going back to Cleveland, and it has and will continue to happen for the rest of the season. It’s fun to talk about and guess what little things may or may not mean in terms of where James could or should go, but it can get somewhat silly at times.

Case in point: There was a rumor floating around recently that James was in Philadelphia over the All-Star break looking at schools, per Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com. If you don’t remember, a similar rumor came up when James was in Los Angeles once, doing the same thing.

It turned out the only reason James was at the LA school is that he surprised the kids there and worked out with them.

Now, there’s this weird Philly thing, per Vardon.

Rumors about James flying from L.A. after the All-Star Game to Philadelphia for school tours in the event he chooses the Sixers in free agency reached a fever pitch this week when Sixers TV game analyst Alaa Abdelnaby said, see if you can follow this, that his brother told him that a local school superintendent told him that James was in the Philly area looking at private schools.

James denied the rumor, naturally, and even went further in his criticism of it.

James actually hadn’t heard the rumor about the schools and asked a reporter after his media session this morning what it was all about.

“That’s disgusting,” he said.

Rumors are fun and all, but this one just seems entirely too egregious to care about.
