It seems like every week LeBron James is adding another impressive feat to his illustrious career and that was the case again on Saturday night. The Cleveland Cavaliers were shorthanded against the Chicago Bulls, but James didn’t seem to mind as he took matters into his own hands.
He put up 33 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists which equals another triple-double and helped to lead the Cavaliers to a 114-109 victory.
That was the 70th triple-double in his career which makes him the 6th NBA player ever to reach that milestone.
Oscar Robertson leads the way having completed the triple-double 181 times in his hall of fame career. Magic Johnson, Jason Kidd, Russell Westbrook and Wilt Chamberlain round out the list.
LeBron James has been in the league since 2003, but this is one of his best seasons ever, in terms of individual success. At the age of 33 he is averaging 27 points, 9.0 assists and 8.6 rebounds per game.
As good as he has been he hasn’t had a lot of help around him, and that has led to the team struggling, and this being one of his most trying years as a pro.
The Cavs currently have a 40-29 record which is good enough for third place in the Eastern Conference, but with it being such a tight playoff race if they go through another losing streak, they could easily fall right back down the standings. They are only 3.5 games above the Miami Heat who sit in 8th place. The Cavaliers aren’t really in danger of missing the playoffs, but a few losses could drop them out of a home playoff series in the first round.
