Cavs News: LeBron James apparently once saved someone’s life out with the Banana Boat crew

LeBron James isn’t just the Cleveland Cavaliers main man, but he’s also the city’s sporting savior. The city of Cleveland hasn’t been as blessed as other major cities with a plethora of sporting success along with superstar talent, but they can boast having arguably the greatest basketball player that’s ever lived.

James was born in the inner suburbs of Akron, Ohio, and quickly summited to a basketball icon within the tight-knit community. The four-time MVP doesn’t just save the Cavs with his big time plays late in games, but a recent story was revealed by good friends Dwyane Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union in a September Vogue profile about James saving someone’s life whilst they were all on vacation in the Bahamas.

Here is the incredible story from Union:

Union and her husband, Dwyane Wade, with other friends and athletes, were out snorkeling in the Bahamas a few years back. Some, including Wade, were ocean-shy, city-born and not as strong at swimming as LeBron. (“LeBron, it turns out, is Aquaman!” Union says.) Eventually, the group got out in the water, though at the end of the swim, when everyone was back in the boat, LeBron took a count and noticed a man missing, immediately diving back in. “He literally brings our friend back, like something out of an episode of Baywatch,” Union says. “Because he’s that guy, and when you see that, you know he is not going to leave these at-risk kids behind or an NBA player snorkeling. He’s that guy who dives in.”

Turns out, James is actually a real life superhero after all. His superhuman strength and lightning quickness is also linked to his Aquaman-like swimming ability that literally saved someone’s life. It’s a truly unbelievable story and just highlights the type of human being James is, willing to sacrifice and put his body on the line for others.

The three-time champion is now gearing up for another exciting NBA season ahead where he will try and propel the Cavaliers to another championship run. The former world champions may have had an up and down off season so far, but as long as they have the superstar small forward you’d be a brave person to bet against them reaching the NBA Finals yet again.

Amidst all the criticism and scrutiny, James remains one of the greatest role models in world sport as well as an inspiration and idol to so many young children throughout the world.

Stories like this don’t only add to his legacy as an athlete and friend, but more importantly, as the man he wants to be known as.
