The Cleveland Cavaliers have dealt with a myriad of issues this season, including injuries, a roster overhaul just before the trade deadline and health concerns for head coach Tyronn Lue. Through all of their adversities, the Cavs still managed to finish with a 50-32 overall record and a No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference standings. Now, with the playoffs at their proverbial door, most of the team’s players seem to be on the mend, including Kyle Korver.
Korver, now 37 years of age, was given an excused leave of absence in March to deal with the passing of his younger brother, Kirk. Kyle has also been dealing with a bout of foot soreness, but he seems to be doing “much better” now, according to a report from Tom Withers of the Associated Press.
In a Facebook Live session on Saturday afternoon, Hayden Grove of Cleveland.com confirmed that Korver will indeed play in Sunday’s Game 1 matchup against the Indiana Pacers, though it is not known if he’ll serve as a starter or reserve.
Korver has played in 73 games with the Cavs this season, averaging 9.2 points on 45.9 percent shooting from the field (43.6 percent from beyond the arc), 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 21.6 minutes.
In other Cavs news, Rodney Hood, who has been ailing from a sore Achilles, has also been cleared to play against the Pacers. If Korver doesn’t start at shooting guard, Hood will likely get the nod.
Sunday’s game is set to tip inside Quicken Loans Arena at 3:30 p.m. EST with ABC having live broadcast coverage.
