The Cleveland Cavs have been one of the more pleasant surprises in the NBA. The Cavs are 23-18 and have already recorded their most wins in a season since franchise legend LeBron James departed. Trending upward, the Cavs decided to sign general manager Koby Altman to an extension, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
That is quite the announcement from the Cavs on general manager Koby Altman’s extension. Altman is now slated to be in Cleveland through the 2027-28 season.
Not only that, but Altman’s extension comes with a new title. The Cavs general manager will be the President of Basketball Operations for Cleveland.
Altman arrived in Cleveland in 2012 as a front office member, ascending to the assistant general manager role before being promoted to the general manager’s chair in 2017.
Altman has drafted two young players with a lot of potential- Darius Garland and Evan Mobley- and has traded for another promising youngster- Jarrett Allen- while helping to oversee the development of Collin Sexton.
That young core has the organization trending upwards, as Cleveland is positioned for playoff appearances both now and in the future.
Not only that, but the Cleveland front office will benefit from the leadership of Koby Altman for the next several seasons.
