The Cleveland Cavaliers number one goal this offseason is to keep LeBron James, and there were a lot of rumors about the Cavs trading their first-round draft pick to get an established star to try and get The King to stay home.

The Cavs ended up keeping the pick and taking Alabama guard Collin Sexton. Cavs General Manager Koby Altman thinks that James will recognize the youth moment, and energy the franchise has.

“I think the pick along with our youth and our momentum as a franchise, for LeBron and for everybody, I think there’s a real energy here. And I think the talent level of Collin I’m almost sure LeBron recognizes.”

Collin Sexton has a ton of talent, and a lot have called him the best guard in the draft. He plays with a ton of heart which is something James likes, but he also wants to win another title next year, and although Sexton might be the best long-term option the question is does James thinks he helps the Cavs get over that hump next year.

LeBron James has until June 29th to inform the Cavs of his decision to opt in or opt out of his contract for next year, but most believe that he will opt out, and at least test the free agency market, even if he does inevitably end up back in Cleveland.

There is still a lot to be played out for James and the Cavs this summer, but at least Altman thinks the team is one step closer to James returning.
