The NBA officially announced the teams for this season’s All-Star Game on Thursday. As most hoops fans know, this season’s All-Star selection process was changed. Gone are the days of East vs. West. Enter a new age of team captains and playground style pick-em’.
Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James and Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry were voted into captaincy for this season’s All-Star game. The two stars were then given the opportunity to select from a pool of players who received enough votes to be deemed a starter or reserve.
James and Curry saw their selections go public on Thursday night. Both teams are stacked with talent, but most experts and analysts are favoring Team LeBron.
After Friday morning’s shootaround at Cleveland Clinic Courts, Cavs big man Kevin Love was asked to comment on being selected by James. The 6-foot-10 rebounding machine spoke with Fox Sports Ohio’s Fred McLeod, saying: “Our starters would probably go 82-0.”
All in all, Love says he’s excited to play with the guys James selected.
“I’m excited to play with some former teammates,” Love told Cavs Nation’s Nikki Goel. “Kyrie (Irving) and Russell Westbrook… that starting lineup goes 82-0. A lot of size.”
The Cavs have lost 10 of their last 13 games, including Tuesday night’s 114-102 set-back in San Antonio against the Spurs. Without a doubt, they need to play better on both ends of the floor. Their first crack at improvement comes on Friday night, as they’re scheduled to host the Indiana Pacers inside Quicken Loans Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. EST with Fox Sports Ohio and Fox Sports Indiana having live broadcast coverage.
