Cleveland Cavs forward Kevin Love entered the season open to any and all trade scenarios. It was a wise stance for Love to take, given his age and the relative youth of the roster in Cleveland. However, the Cavs have surprised many in the NBA, as they are currently 24-18 and hold the Eastern Conference’s sixth seed. According to Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, this resurgence has caused Love to have a new outlook on a trade.
And while Kevin Love entered this season open to trade scenarios, the veteran has played an integral reserve role during Cleveland’s surprise season and has enjoyed the Cavaliers’ new playoff-chasing environment, one source familiar with Love told B/R.
Per Fischer, Kevin Love entered the season open to a trade but now is enjoying the “playoff-chasing” environment surrounding the Cavs organization at the moment.
As Fischer noted, Love has played a key role in the Cavs’ jump up the standings, which is likely another reason why the veteran forward seemingly wants to stay put in Cleveland.
The sharpshooting forward has entered into the running for the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award, as he has averaged 14.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.8 made three-pointers per game while shooting 43.3 percent from the field and 41 percent from beyond the arc.
The veteran forward’s interests aside, it could be hard for the Cavs to trade Love anyway given his age and $31 million cap figure for this season.
For now, Kevin Love seemingly has no desire to be traded from the Cavs.
