Donovan Mitchell is off to a great start to his stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is averaging 31.5 points and 8.5 assists per game and has made 22 of his 40 shots from the field. The Cavs’ new star is shining bright and drawing praise from all over his new city, including from teammate Kevin Love.

According to Chris Fedor of cleveland.com, Kevin Love said that Mitchell is “much more than meets the eye” and that him doing what’s doing on a brand new team is impressive.

“To come to another team and step in the way he has, it’s really impressive,” Love said of his new Cavs teammate, via cleveland.com. “I don’t know if that’s the right word or doing it justice. He’s a gamer. He’s about the right things. He has taken it on himself to defend. He’s leading us in that starting unit.”

The Cavs paid the price of several players and first-round picks to land Mitchell. So far, it has paid off in a huge way. As Darius Garland deals with an eye injury, having Mitchell to run the show is a massive relief. His production may fall back down to Earth over time but he should still remain a highly effective player.

After a 1-1 start to their 2022-23 season, the Cavs will face the Washington Wizards in their home opener. It will be the first time in the regular season that Cleveland fans will get to see their new star in action.
