Cavs forward Kevin Love calls Nets game ‘ugly’ despite sixth straight win

As they have on several occasions this season, the Cavs got off to an ugly start in Wednesday night’s home game against the Nets — a point that Kevin Love pointed out during his locker room availability. However, thanks to a Herculean fourth quarter effort from LeBron James, Cleveland managed to walk away with their sixth straight victory, 119-109.

In his 31 minutes of action on Wednesday night, Love, now 29 years of age, posted 18 points on 7-18 shooting from the field, 10 rebounds, three assists, and one block. The former UCLA standout says the Cavs are playing better, but he also noted that there is still work to be done.

Via Sam Amico of AmicoHoops.net:

“I’d say we’re in a better place now,” Cavs forward Kevin Love said of his team. Having won six in a row, it definitely puts us back in a position we want to be in, but we still feel like we have a long way to go. Tonight was ugly. I’m sure that we’ll look at film on this game and see what we can do better, because we have to defend that three-point line. We just have to keep putting it together. We thought we were pretty lackadaisical in that first half, especially that first quarter when we let them back in the game.”

Love has a point. As most hoops fans know, the Cavs, who have been dealing with several injuries and lineup changes, struggled a bit through the early phases of this season. However, it looks like they’re on the proper path now.

Love and the Cavs will have a chance to improve their winning streak this Friday when they’ll host the Charlotte Hornets at 8:00 p.m. EST inside Quicken Loans Arena. Fox Sports Ohio, Fox Sports Carolinas, and NBA TV will have live broadcast coverage. Fans who plan on attending are asked to wear black in support of the Cavs’ #BlackOutTheQ event.
