Count Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard J.R. Smith as among those left in awe at the magnitude of LeBron James’ most recent project — the I Promise School in Akron, Ohio.

The school was opened Monday, but it took Smith a full day before he took to Instagram to congratulate James and his group for the successful undertaking.

Although Smith committed arguably the biggest error in the history of the NBA back in Game 1 of this year’s NBA Finals which robbed James and the Cavs of the chance to get early momentum in the series against the Golden State Warriors, the two seem to be past that debacle, as evidenced by the 32-year-old guard’s social media post.

Smith and James spent four seasons together in Cleveland – in each of which they reached the NBA Finals and won a title along the way. The bond between the two is strong enough to withstand any basketball error by Smith that left the four-time MVP scratching his head.

The school LeBron James helped build aims to let students from impoverished families learn for free. It even assists the kids’ parents land a job and promises those who will graduate free tertiary education. Through the school, James has touched many lives, including that of Smith, who was obviously moved by his former teammate’s project.
