The Cleveland Cavaliers have consistently been one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference this season. Much of that has to do with the addition of Donovan Mitchell who has been having a stellar season. But a lot of the Cavs success has come from internal development as well. The Cavs got a big win against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday and a huge reason why was because of Jarrett Allen’s defense on Raptors All-Star Pascal Siakam. Cavs forward Isaac Okoro spoke about Allen’s impact via Bally Sports Cleveland. The Cavs were in a jovial mood following the win and Okoro’s video interview drew laughs with Allen dropping by unexpected.
“I could smell that peanut butter breath down my neck,” Okoro joked as he turned to face Allen. “He shut down Siakam, he took the challenge, that’s what we want from JA every night.”
Jarrett Allen has emerged as one of the better defensive players in the NBA and a key player in the Cavs success. This is Allen’s third season with the Cavs and he’s been averaging 14.7 points per game, 9.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots with shooting splits of 65.1 percent from the field and 72.9 percent from the free-throw line. Against the Raptors, Allen held Siakam to 10-24 shooting.
Isaac Okoro has also been a strong contributor to the Cavs success. This season Okoro has been averaging 6.3 points per game and 2.6 rebounds with shooting splits of 48.6 percent from the field, 34.5 percent from the three-point line and 73.6 percent from the free-throw line. The Cavs are currently 38-25 and in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
