Cavs news: Jae Crowder ran into Kyrie Irving at Four Seasons hotel prior to trade getting finalized
In the midst of a nerve-wracking long week where the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics had agreed to a pending trade, the anxiety surrounding those involved after rumors of the Cavs seeking additional assets in return gave a bite of uncertainty to the situation.
Meanwhile Jae Crowder was in Atlanta, a 40-minute drive from his native Villa Rica in Georgia, pulling up his car in a Four Seasons hotel, only to find out Kyrie Irving, who was in the middle of filming his upcoming Uncle Drew movie, was the car right behind him, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
The two players, aware of the ridiculous timing and the circumstances approached each other as Crowder said: “There’s a lot going on right now, huh?”
Ultimately the trade was finalized shortly after the two ran into each other, as the Celtics gave a second-round 2020 pick as additional compensation for Isaiah Thomas’ medical condition.
Even the NBA happens to be a small world despite the select few that happen to be a part of it, making this accidental meeting between Crowder and Irving that much more of a one-in-a-million type of coincidence.
Irving will forge a future as the leader of the Celtics while Crowder is set to bolster the bench as the team’s sixth man, providing a much needed three-and-D double-edged sword that the Cavaliers can make wide us of coming into the season.
