Cleveland Cavaliers teammates J.R. Smith and Isaiah Thomas spent Monday afternoon at the Giant Eagle on West 117th street. They weren’t there to shop, though, as you might expect.

As shoppers brought their items to the check-out aisle, Smith, Thomas, and several volunteers from Nestlé Baking were stationed at the register to bag and ring up their items as part of the Cavs’ Season of Giving program.

Just imagine J.R. Smith and Isaiah Thomas — two professional basketball players — taking your coupons, then scanning your deli meat and bottled water.

The shoppers received a special care package from Nestlé on their way out, including Nestlé Toll House cookie dough and bags of chocolate chips.

The surprises didn’t stop there, though. When the customers reached for their wallets, Smith and Thomas assured them that there would be no need, as their tabs were being paid by the Cavs.

Without a doubt, Smith, Thomas, and the Cavs are doing their part to spread the holiday spirit.
