Cleveland Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas no longer wants the Boston Celtics to honor him with a video tribute at TD Garden on Feb. 11. Thomas has sent out a tweet Tuesday that he hopes would punctuate the brouhaha that started when retired Celtics great Paul Pierce expressed his disappointment over the idea that he has to share the limelight with Thomas on the same day his jersey is set to be retired by the organization he played for the majority of his NBA career.

This must not have been an easy thing to say for Thomas. For one, like Piece, he gave it his all for the Celtics during his brief stint in Beantown. Thomas was traded to Boston by the Phoenix Suns in the middle of the 2015-16, and immediately made an impact on the team. He would blossom into a legitimate MVP contender in the 2016-17 campaign, when he averaged 28.9 points and 5.9 assists per game, while leading the Celtics all the way into the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cavs. In the offseason that followed, Isaiah Thomas would get traded again, this time to the Cavaliers along with Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and the Brooklyn Nets’ 2018 first-round pick for Cavs guard Kyrie Irving.

With the tribute-video saga out of the way, Thomas can now fully focus on trying to help Cleveland claw their way out of a slump. The Cavaliers have lost all of their last four games, and they will have a chance of righting their ship this Thursday at home against the Orlando Magic.
