After a long wait, Isaiah Thomas has finally made his Cleveland Cavaliers debut Tuesday night at the Quicken Loans Arena against the visiting Portland Trail Blazers. Fans rose to their feet and gave their shiny new point guard a standing ovation when Thomas took to the floor with under five minutes left in the first quarter.

The referees, however, did not seem to be very welcoming of Thomas. In fact, one referee tagged Thomas with a technical foul after the latter complained of not getting a foul late in the third period.

Maybe it’s just Isaiah Thomas’ surplus of adrenaline spilling out of him. After all, the Cavs point guard has been away from the court for several months because of a hip injury he sustained way back last season when he was still with the Boston Celtics. Interestingly, Thomas debuted with the Celtics in 2015 with two technical fouls.

With Thomas back on the floor, the Cavs now get a much-needed help at the point guard position, which has been mostly handled by LeBron James during Thomas and Derrick Rose’s absence.

In his first game back from the injury, Isaiah Thomas has already managed to score in double digits with 16 points so far on 6-of-12 shooting from the field.

Last season, Thomas put up a career-high average of 28.9 points per game on a 46.3 field goal shooting percentage.
