Isaiah Thomas’ recovery from his hip injury has been a big boost for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Not only does he give them more depth at the point guard spot, but his experience and ability to score lessens the offensive load that his teammates have to carry on a nightly basis. However, he has also given back a lot of money in just three games.

Following the $20,000 fine he received for the Flagrant 2 foul he had on Minnesota Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins Monday, coupled with the two technical fouls called on him so far, the two-time All-Star is now $26,000 poorer since his return to action.

The money may not be the issue especially for players who earn a lot with the size of their contracts, but it’s alarming that Thomas has been reprimanded this much in less than a week since making his Cavs debut. While his passion and competitiveness is a welcome addition to the team, he certainly needs to keep his emotions in check and know his limits especially being the veteran that he is.

Thomas has had a strong start to the season and is averaging 15.0 points, 1.0 rebound and 3.3 assists in 19.7 minutes per game. He is also starting to form some chemistry on the court with his teammates and having a better understanding of how the team’s system works.

There is no doubt that the 5-foot-9 point guard is a very talented player and could definitely make the Cavaliers better with his presence, however, he can help the team and himself further with his leadership by staying on the court and avoid receiving more fines and technical fouls moving forward.
