Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Isaiah Thomas hasn’t played a single game for his new team yet, but it sounds like the crafty ball-handler could be nearing a debut.

“Isaiah Thomas has been progressing on schedule, and barring any setbacks, the All-Star point guard is on track to make his season debut during the Cleveland Cavaliers’ upcoming West Coast trip, league sources told Amico Hoops on Tuesday.”
As most hoops fans know, Isaiah Thomas, now 28 years of age, has been dealing with a hip injury he sustained in the 2017 Eastern Conference Playoffs. He’s been showing signs of progress with regards to rehabilitation, however. In fact, the former Washington Huskies stand-out has been participating in four-on-four drills with several members of Cleveland’s second unit in recent days.
Cavs head coach Tryonn Lue has previously stated that Thomas has no set timetable. The team has been proceeding with caution, as they should. However, one source close to the situation tells Amico, “He’s ready.”
In his 76 games played for the Boston Celtics last season, Thomas turned in some of the best statistical numbers of his career, averaging a career-high 28.9 points on 46 percent shooting from the field (38 percent from beyond the arc), 5.9 assists, and 2.7 rebounds.
The Cavs, winners in 15 of their last 16 games, will kick off their three-game West Coast swing with a match-up against the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day.
