After seeing his teammates fall to the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday afternoon, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Isaiah Thomas sent out a pair of tweets to express how anxious he is to get back on the court.

The Cavs, now 4-6 and fourth in the Central Division, got off to a sluggish start on the defensive end of the floor in Sunday’s home game, which allowed the Hawks to score 37 first quarter points. Despite great individual efforts from LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, as well as a late barrage of three-pointers from Kyle Korver, Cleveland fell to the Hawks in 117-115 fashion.

As most Cavs fans know, Thomas has been ruled out until (roughly) January due to a hip injury he sustained in last season’s Playoffs. He sees his team struggling, and it bothers him, sure. The two-time All Star “just wants to hoop,” as he says.

In his second message, Thomas, now 28 years of age, took some time to remind everyone that he is one of the best point guards in today’s game when healthy.

In his 76 games played for the Boston Celtics last season, Thomas posted some of the best statistical figures of his career, averaging a career-high 28.9 points on 46% shooting from the field (career-high), 5.9 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and just under one steal (.9) in 33.8 minutes per contest.

When he is able to return, there is no doubt that Thomas will help Cleveland’s rotation. As the old saying goes, though, “there’s no need to rush it.” In fact, Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue feels the same way.

The Cavs will be back in action on Tuesday night, when they’ll host the Milwaukee Bucks inside Quicken Loans Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST with NBATV, Fox Sports Ohio, and Fox Sports Wisconsin having live broadcast coverage.
