The Cleveland Cavaliers have a big one coming up on Monday night as they take on the mighty Boston Celtics. Unfortunately for the Cavs, it seems like they will need to try and secure a win against the C’s without Donovan Mitchell after the All-Star shooting guard popped up on the injury report. So, the big question on the minds of Cleveland fans right now is this: Is Donovan Mitchell playing tonight vs. the Celtics?

Donovan Mitchell injury status vs. Celtics

The Cavs initially had Mitchell as questionable to play due to a left hand problem, per the official injury report. Cleveland fans will be glad to know, however, that Donovan was upgraded to available ahead of tipoff.

Mitchell suffered the injury during Saturday’s win over the Detroit Pistons. The Cavs star exited in the third quarter of the game and quickly headed to the locker room to have his hand checked out. Cleveland said that he was probable to return, but they saw no need to bring him back given the nature of the blowout.

As for the Celtics, Jayson Tatum will be forced to sit out with a left knee injury. This is the second game of a back-to-back set for Boston, so it sounds like a mere night off for their superstar. Joining Tatum on the sidelines will be Al Horford, Robert Williams III, and Danilo Gallinari.

However, with regard to the question of is Donovan Mitchell playing tonight vs. the Celtics, the answer is yes.
