The Cleveland Cavaliers have made their way to New Orleans, Louisiana for a matchup against the Pelicans inside the Smoothie King Center, but it sounds like they’ll still be without former MVP Derrick Rose.
Rose, who has missed Cleveland’s last three games due to an ankle sprain he suffered in a game against the Milwaukee Bucks, will be sidelined once again tonight in The Big Easy.
According to a report from Fred McLeod of Fox Sports Ohio, Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue has elected to give Iman Shumpert the starting nod at the point guard position. Through the Cavs’ first five games of the season, the savvy defender has posted averages of 6.2 points on 39 percent shooting from the field, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists.
McLeod also notes that Dwyane Wade, who has been dealing with a knee contusion for a few days, will be back in action tonight.
Wade, a three-time champion, recently accepted a bench role with the Cavs, relinquishing his starting two guard role to J.R. Smith. In his four appearances with the Cavaliers this season, “Flash,” as Wade is known, has put up averages of 7.0 points on 38 percent shooting from the field, 3.5 assists, and 2.3 rebounds.
Tonight’s game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. EST tip with Fox Sports Ohio and Fox Sports NOLA having live broadcast coverage.
