George Hill says he stayed up all night watching missed free throw
George Hill had a chance to possibly win Game 1 in regulation with a single free throw. Yet jitters might have gotten the best of him as he missed the free throw what would’ve put them up by one point with 4.7 seconds left.
According to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, Hill stayed up all night watching the missed free throw over and over again.
‘I didn’t come through…this is one of the worst feelings ever’
Though Hill missed the free throw, J.R. Smith was able to snag the rebound but he, too, failed to take advantage of the possession. As everyone knows by now, Smith dribbled the ball out instead of calling a timeout or taking a shot thinking that the Cavaliers had the lead at that point.
The went into overtime and as expected, the Golden State Warriors did not waste a single minute. They capitalized on the Cavaliers’ tarnished morale. In the extra period, they outscored the Cavaliers 17-7 and came away with the victory.
Hill played 30 minutes and logged in seven points, two rebounds, and one assist. He shot 2-of-6 from the field, 2-of-4 from the beyond the arc.
Hill said that he has to move forward from the mistake. He said:
“If you look at Game 1, we can win this series, playing the right way,” Hill said. “I’m sure if you look at everyone in this locker room felt that we gave one away and we missed an opportunity, but, like I said we still have a game on Sunday to make up for it and do the best we can to get back on the right track.”
