If you weren’t completely hyped about Donovan Mitchell joining the Cleveland Cavaliers (why??), then these new photos should light a fire under any Cavs supporter out there. Mitchell himself shared a few snaps of himself in Cavs gear together with Darius Garland and his new teammates, and they’re as eye-popping as they sound.

Despite the fact that he hasn’t even played a single minute for the team, Donovan Mitchell repping the Cavs’ wine and gold just feels right (h/t ClutchPoints on Twitter):

Mitchell arrived in Cleveland after the Cavs secured a blockbuster trade deal with the Utah Jazz. They paid quite a hefty sum too, with the Cavs opting to part ways with Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen, rookie Ochai Agbaji, three future first-round draft picks, as well as two future pick swaps. Whew.

Despite the myriad of assets they gave up, it’s still hard to imagine the Cavs coming out as losers in this deal. After all, Donovan Mitchell is a bona fide NBA superstar and he could be the missing piece Cleveland has been searching for.

Last season, the Cavs fell short of their goal to make it to the playoffs following what was an eye-opening regular-season run. This young team surely made a lot of waves, particularly during the early part of the campaign. They did run out of steam, though, but with Mitchell now in the mix in 2022-23, there’s no denying that the Cavs are now a real threat in the Eastern Conference, and perhaps even beyond.
