With only a 4-6 record to show 10 games into the season, it’s safe to say that things have not gone according to plan for the Cleveland Cavaliers so far. It’s also not hard to imagine that the frustrations of their players are starting to heighten, and doubts are starting to creep in to their minds.

Dwyane Wade was asked to give his thoughts on the current state of the team, and his response was very concerning, to say the least, as he admitted that he is only waiting for the time to come when the starters blame the second unit for not being able to keep a lead during a game, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

While there are a number of factors to consider why they are in their current situation, it can also be argued that they are not at full strength, and are missing some key players due to injury. Isaiah Thomas has not played for the Wine and Gold yet, while Derrick Rose has missed some games as well. Tristan Thompson will also be sidelined for a month, as he recovers from a calf injury, which leaves them very thin up front.

Sure, having all their players healthy could have also turned around their fortunes. But playing effortless defense, losing to teams they’re supposed to beat, and whatnot are inexcusable. For now, given their predicament, it will be crucial for them to get their act together soon in order to start stringing a few wins together, because if not, they might get themselves in a hole too deep for them to get out of.

On the other hand, Wade’s message could also mean that he’s searching for more accountability from the Cavs’ second unit. He knows better what kind of friction is needed within a team that has seemingly lost its way. During his titles with the Miami Heat, the superstar shooting guard has seen his fair share of heated moments, with Gary Payton, Mario Chalmers, and LeBron James himself being among those involved, but everyone knows how their campaign panned out. Cavs fans must hope for the same.
