Earlier this week, Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love told several of the team’s beat reporters that he and his teammates hope to attend Game 1 of Major League Baseball’s American League Divisional Series as a group. Now, with just hours remaining until first pitch at Progressive Field, it sounds like Love’s plans will come to fruition.

According to a report from ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Cavs, including newly-acquired guard Dwyane Wade, will indeed be in attendance for Game 1 of the ALDS between the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees. Wade, a native of Chicago, says he is looking forward to bonding with his new teammates.

“I’m looking forward to the bonding,” Wade told ESPN. “I’m not cheering for one team to win over the other, but I love greatness. Anytime anybody does something great, you applaud them for it. You want to be in that environment. But the biggest thing for us is to be able to bond and support the city. The city, the players, they support you and I’m a part of this organization now, so anytime we get an opportunity to support, you definitely want to do that, so that’s what tonight is about.”

Last season, Cavs superstar LeBron James gave a motivational message to the home crowd before the Indians took the field to play the Boston Red Sox in Game 2 of the ALDS. Will we see James and his teammates hyping the fans in similar fashion this year? Only time will tell. Game 1 of the 2017 ALDS is scheduled for a 7:38 p.m. start.
