Thanks in large part to the defensive prowess of Dwyane Wade, the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to extend their home winning streak to 12 with a 115-112 win over the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night.
Wade, now 35 years of age, is one of the best scorers the NBA has ever seen, but he’s also an excellent defender. The former Marquette Golden Eagle recorded his 210th career game with at least two blocks on Thursday night, passing Michael Jordan for the most such games by a guard in NBA history.
In his 24 minutes of action against his hometown team, Wade had 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field, four assists, three rebounds, three steals, and those two significant blocks.
Without a doubt, Dwyane Wade has become the accepted leader of the Cavs’ bench unit. The group continues to play well when called on. And in fact, it’s often been the Cavs’ second unit “saving the day,” as they say.
Dwyane Wade and the Cavs, winners in 19 of their last 21 games, will be back in action on Christmas Day, when they’ll kick off a three-game West Coast road trip with a match-up against the Golden State Warriors inside Oracle Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. EST with ABC having live broadcast coverage.
