Things are not looking so good at the moment for the Cleveland Cavaliers. They have two of their best players unavailable to see action due to injuries. Cavs big man Evan Mobley is going to miss several weeks because of a knee injury, while guard Darius Garland is also sidelined with a fractured jaw he suffered in last Thursday’s matchup versus the Boston Celtics.

Garland’s Cavs backcourt mate, Donovan Mitchell is understandably glum due to his teammates’ injuries.

‘Man, it’s tough because… It’s just a freak accident. It’s one of those things, you’re making a basketball play. For me, it’s been two years here where it’s been something, where it’s just out of his control, I feel for him, Mitchell said of Garland, (h/t Cavs sideline reporter Serena Winters).

“We spoke and I just told him honestly, God just has a plan, whatever that may be. It’s tough when you’re competitive, you want to be out there, especially when we’re going through losing 3 straight, not playing to the best of our ability, to lose your elite guard, it’s one of those things where it’s just tough. I feel for him man, especially, I’ve only been here two years, but I know it’s one of those things that’s really out of his control. At the end of the day, we got to do it as a group.”

It is going to be an uphill battle for the Cavs without Garland and Mobley. They are also on a three-game losing skid heading into Sunday’s meeting with the Atlanta Hawks at home. Still, there is still time for Mitchell and the Cavaliers to adjust and turn things around while the two players are on the mend.
